In 2014, Lockheed Martin commissioned Advanced Green Technologies (AGT) to create a 2.25-megawatt solar carport at their facility in Oldsmar, Florida. The carport, covering 151,400 square feet and standing 24 feet high, includes 7260 solar modules and offers protected parking for 534 vehicles. AGT’s design and construction expertise secured the project against seven other national contractors. The project faced challenges like hurricane-force winds, requiring meticulous structural adjustments, and phased construction to avoid disrupting facility operations. Completed in September 2015, the carport provides significant utility savings and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, while offering shaded parking for employees.

John Lloyd Park in Hollywood, Florida, showcases a Solar Farm Installation as part of the Sustainable Energy Project for Nova Southeastern University. This project combines energy efficiency and renewable technologies to meet the park’s energy needs. Advanced Green Technologies engineered, procured, and installed solar electric systems at four locations: the park entrance, administration and maintenance buildings, and concession stands. These systems generate sufficient annual energy and include solar hot water systems for park rangers. The utility-interactive system returns excess energy to the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) grid, powering the park at night and on cloudy days. Completed in 2012, the project has a 53 kW capacity with AGT’s custom racking solution, encompassing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).

In partnership with Siemens Corporation, Advanced Green Technologies (AGT) recently completed the first city-owned solar farm for the City of Lake Worth, Florida. The 2 megawatt (MW) solar plant sits on a five-acre site of a former landfill. The ground-mounted solar array consists of 6,490 monocrystalline solar panels and is expected to generate about two percent of the city’s energy load – enough to power more than 230 homes per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than four million pounds. That’s the equivalent of taking 445 cars off the road.
