Welcome to Advanced Green Technologies

Stirling Road Branch Library

Stirling Road Branch

Advanced Roofing and Advanced Green Technologies install energy efficient KEE PVC roof system and solar array at Stirling Road Branch Library under a term contract to help Broward County meet its renewable energy targets.

It is a Library in Hollywood, FL, which opened its doors in 2003 as a safe, essential, and central public space for the community to learn and engage. The library needed a new roof, making it the ideal time for Broward County to add solar to the system as part of its community initiative to help offset energy prices and show its commitment to green energy.

Advanced Roofing, Inc., Florida’s top-ranked commercial roofing contractor, secured the public contract for the library’s re-roofing project. Finding a creative way to use the many municipal and State of Florida Term Contracts offered through the procurement division, Advanced Roofing was able to include solar to the project by linking it to an existing contract with the Florida Department of Management Services (DMS). This contract streamlined the procurement process and successfully allowed the library to receive a new roof and solar energy system at the same time.

As Florida’s top commercial roofing contractors, Advanced Roofing used its sister company, Advanced Green Technologies (AGT), the top commercial solar contractor in the state, for the solar panel installation, further streamlining the project. AGT is an award-winning commercial solar energy contractor specializing in designing, procuring, and constructing rooftop, carport, and ground-mounted energy solutions for clients in high-wind areas like Florida and has completed several solar projects for the county including a solar roof for the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Center and solar canopies at CB Smith Park.

PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK

The library’s 21,600-square-foot modified bitumen roof failed with roof leaks throughout the facility. Over the years, water intrusion and lack of consistent maintenance caused numerous issues throughout, aging the system.

The new roof consisted of a Johns Manville115-mil KEE PVC fleece-backed membrane and a 158kW solar roof array. Four hundred (400) Hanwha Q-Cells Q.PEAK DUO L-G5.3 395W solar panels were installed with one (1) Chint 28kW and two (2) Chint 50kW inverters, using Chint monitoring along with a DCE racking system, ballast, and mechanical attachments mixed.

SOLAR ROOF COMPLETION

The library’s new roof was completed in March of 2021 and now produces energy for the building while providing weatherproofing and reduced electrical costs from the effective white reflective roof and new insulation.

Broward County has committed to a community-wide greenhouse gas emissions goal of 80% by 2050, a total-wide renewable energy goal of 20%, and a clean fleet goal by 2030. As a participant in Florida Power & Light’s Solar Together Program, Broward County benefits from utility-scale solar projects and is enrolled at a level to offset 100% of metered energy consumption. The County can expect to achieve a full 100% offset to agency-wide energy consumption by the end of 2022.

The Stirling Road Branch Library re-roofing and solar installation was an excellent project for the company to showcase its craftsmanship and capabilities. It combined Advanced Roofing, Inc.’s roofing and solar divisions, Advanced Green Technologies, working together to increase solar usage in our local community. Advanced Roofing, Inc. is proud to participate in this critical initiative for our community and planet.
The innovative re-roofing and solar purchasing option Advanced Roofing and Advanced Green Technologies offered to Broward County is an example of how we can help make your roofing and solar dreams a reality. With the ability to have the work performed under an existing term contract, Advanced Roofing can help save governments and municipalities time and money. The benefits of this term contract include:

  • Reduction in staff resources required for public bidding.
  • Reduction in costs for third-party
  • Engineers and architects.
  • Reduction in time from start to finish.
  • Controlled contractor and material selection

“The partnership between Advanced Green Technologies(AGT) and Miami Dade County Leadership has shown that municipal government agencies can successfully deploy solar assets, quickly and efficiently.  This brings immense value to the community and the County while protecting the environment for generations to come.”
