Key Responsibilities
The Solar Service Supervisor provides coordination, planning and management of solar service crews commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing Commercial, Industrial Photovoltaic (PV), and Electric Vehicle (EV) Systems. The Solar Service Supervisor also ensures a positive relationship with customers by providing best-in-class service.
- Supervises employees to ensure all service activities are performed safely, timely and within in Company standards
- Performs solar service functions related but not limited to: training, commissioning, testing, inspection, trouble-shooting, repairing and modifying solar installations
- Conducts weekly service meetings to review upcoming job schedule, ticket closures, warranty statuses, parts orders, repair updates, and collections.
- Ensures all annual service accounts are maintained, scheduled, and completed in a timely manner
- Communicates with existing and new clients to solicit annual service accounts and retention of existing accounts
- In advance of conducting commissioning site visits, the service supervisor coordinates and schedules meetings with Project Managers, Operation Manager, and Construction Managers to review full scope of work and contractual obligations
- Conducts, documents, and schedules customer orientations and walkthroughs of newly installed AGT PV Systems.
- Compiles, reviews, and completes all required commissioning documentation
- Reviews all active monitoring accounts for alerts, malfunctions, or low performance
- Reviews, documents, and compiles proposals for repairs, corrective actions, and annual maintenance
- Compiles and sends monthly and annual monitoring reports to service clients
- Reviews all service tickets to ensure technical and contractual accuracy
- Coordinates and approves travel for technicians traveling out of town
- Reviews weekly profitability report to ensure service department profitability
- Reviews and Approves weekly payroll and per diem
- Attends new solar product seminars and training
- Maintains safety, tool, and material inventory lists per service truck and for service department
- Conducts quarterly and annual reviews for all direct reports
Skills, Experience, and Knowledge Required
Education
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Technical school certificate preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience
- 4+ years’ experience in the solar industry
- 4+ years’ experience of PV System installation, operations & maintenance (O&M)
- 2+ years in a supervisory role
- Experience in the solar service and/or maintenance industry
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certificate preferred
- Inverter training experience
- Experience with AC and DC systems, including inverters, switchgear, transformers, batteries, power meters, computer monitoring systems, associated sensors, PV modules, and PV arrays
- Experience with IV Curve tracer, IR camera, SunEye or equivalent shade analyzer
- Experience with document management software
- OSHA 30 for Construction Certificate preferred
- Formal training certificate or degree in electrical field preferred
- Trade experience in solar, general construction, and or solar
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid Driver’s license and ability to regularly travel throughout the state and to other states and regions for a few days or occasionally a few weeks at a time
- Successful Pre-Employment Drug test
- Successful background investigation
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to see the big picture, anticipate problems and how they will affect the project team, and proactively address these issues
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, lift 100 pounds, and must be able to work on your feet for long periods of time
- Must be able to work outdoors in extreme environments
- Schedule and execute time sensitive work orders
- Troubleshooting expertise with ability to systematically approach issues, diagnose and correct
- Familiarity configuring communications and troubleshooting Ethernet, Modbus, and other computer networking connections
- Practical experience with electrical wiring and basic construction practices
- Proficiency with AC/DC multimeter and amp clamp, megger operation and electrical systems diagnostics
- Ability to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines with minimal or no supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer and tablet skills especially use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common office software
- Process oriented and strong organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors.
